My little boy is getting WAY too big!!

I have been HORRIBLE at my update posts for Cavner. He is now 10 months old, and I can’t believe how fast the time has flown. He is so full of energy, and personality.

He is the complete opposite of what Ella was like at this age. She was very independent, and could play with her toys by herself for long periods of time. She loved sitting in our laps and reading books, and was very gentle and happy. All you had to do was smile at her and she would smile back.

Cavner is definitely ALL BOY! He does not like to play with any toy for longer than 2 minutes unless it is dumping over the toy baskets and batting the toys all over the room. He can not sit still for you to read him a book (unless he is really tired). He does not like to be left alone and will cry if you leave him in a room by himself. He smiles the most when you toss him around and play rough. Again, he is ALL BOY, and we absolutely LOVE every little piece of him! He has brought us so many smiles, and made our life SO much better. We are so blessed to be able to experience both of these completely different personalities.

So Cavner, what have you been up to these last few months?

  • At your 9 month appointment you weighed 18 pounds 1 ounce. You have struggled with your weight a lot, but we were happy that you were starting to put on some weight now that you have started solid foods.
  • Since you have started solid foods, you eat A LOT, and we are so thankful that we do not have another picky eater. We have not found ANYTHING that you won’t eat.
  • You have been weaned, which is nice and sad at the same time. When we were in Florida you got sick and just did not want to drink much. You are now a formula baby, which is a lot more convenient, but I miss our bonding time!!

  • You have become a really good sleeper. You usually take 2 naps a day, and you sleep about 10-12 hours straight at night. We no longer rock you to sleep (also a little sad). You get rice cereal, a bottle, and we read some books and then you get put in bed. You cry as we close the door, but then stop right away and go to sleep. We LOVE that!!

  • You wear a size 3 diaper, and you are quickly catching up with your sister who wears a size 4. ***Although I am happy to say that I have an update, and Ella only wears those at bed time. She has been doing SOOOOO good! Dare I say it?? I think she is potty trained. Yeah!!!

  • You have two bottom teeth, and the two on the top have broken through as well. You will not, no matter how hard I try, show me these teeth for a picture.

  • You are now moving all over the place, but you do not do the “typical” knees and hands crawling. You have two ways that you “crawl.” The first way is by using your arms to drag your body around the room, and the second way is by sitting up and dragging your bottom by using your hands and walking with one leg. It is the funniest thing! **Update: I wrote this 2 days ago, and today he started crawling (1/21/2011)

  • Your other way to get around is by pulling up and scooting around the room. We have been AMAZED at how fast you can go and also where you can go. Sometimes we turn around and have no idea how you got from one area to another. I am scared already!! This is definitely your favorite mode of transportation at this point.

  • You also can really get around on your little walker. We did not even know that you could do this, except one day you pulled up on your walker, got yourself around to the back of it, and just took off. Tim and I just both looked in amazement as he started walking around the room. He has even gotten to being able to steer it as he walks.

Cavner, we can already tell that you are going to take us on many adventures, and we can’t wait! We love you SOOOOO much, and we are so blessed to have you in our family!!

xoxo,

Mommy, Daddy, and Ella
